The solution to diabetes could be through a stem cell transplant

Friday, October 17th, 2008

A bit of controversy arising between politicians and church where researchers study and work in relation to stem cells and genetics, it is obvious that this kind of work gives its results as if the success of transplantation cells from umbilical cord blood of a newborn baby to her brother who had problems.

Another discovery that would allow stem cell research and would be close to the investigators would be the cure for diabetes, as everything starts up because these patients lack the cells that are responsible for synthesizing and secrete insulin, which is responsible control that we all have the blood glucose levels correct.

So researchers at the American University of Harvard have discovered a compound that would be capable of producing so-called beta cells with the gene necessary to produce insulin, and by transplantation of these cells would diabetic patients as their disease might be in oblivion.
